BANK ROBBERY: OSUN IPAC CONDEMNS ATTACK ON BANK IN IRAGBIJI, REAFFIRMS CALL FOR SECURITY SUMMIT

The Osun State Chapter of the Interparty Advisory Council (IPAC) under the leadership of Mr. Wale Adebayo has condemned the recent armed robbery attack on a branch of Wema Bank in Iragbiji.

It would be recalled that armed robbers broke into a branch of Wema Bank in Iragbiji, headquarters of Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State, on Tuesday, killing two policemen. The deceased policemen were simply identified as Ogunbiyi Ahmed and Inspector Odeyemi Ayinla.

Disturbed about the constant bank robbery in Osun State, the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has once again restated its call for a security summit to proffer solutions to the incessant robbery attacks on banks in the state.

IPAC in a statement issued on Tuesday by its Chairman, Mr. Wale Adebayo, conveyed its sympathy to the families of the Police Officers, who were gruesomely murdered in the bank robbery attack which occurred on Tuesday 28th September, 2021.

Adebayo said it received with sadness the report of the bank robbery which claimed the lives of two Police officers, identified as Ogunbiyi Ahmed and Inspector Odeyemi Ayinla in the State.

IPAC further sympathized with the rank and file of the Police Command in Osun State, and the immediate families of the slain officers.

In the release, the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) reaffirmed its plans to convene a security summit to hammer out a set of working principles to nip in the bud major Osun State’s security challenges.

To throw more light on the summit objectives, the Chairman said it aimed to bring together leading academics, security experts, research scholars, traditional rulers, banks and hoteliers to exchange and share their experiences and research results on how well to manage all aspects of community policing and terrorism prevention, strategy and policy.

IPAC Chairman finally called for the urgent intervention of Governor Gboyega Oyetola and other security operatives in the state to rise and put an end to the incessant robbery attacks in the state.
